Korea National Armistice Day honors the historic significance of the Armistice Agreement and the enduring hope for lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula. It is a day to recognize the courage and sacrifice of Korean War veterans and to reaffirm the strength of the U.S.–Korea alliance. Through this commemoration, we remember the past while renewing our shared commitment to peace for future generations.
This year’s event carried added significance, as it was hosted by South Korea’s new Ambassador to the United States, Ambassador Kang Kyung-wha, the first woman ever to serve in this role—marking an important milestone in Korea–U.S. diplomatic history.
At the 2025 Korea National Armistice Day celebration at the historic Andrew Mellon Auditorium, guests were welcomed to an immersive K-Wine & Spirits Tasting Station.
This special installation showcased more than 25 varieties of premium soju, artisanal makgeolli, and Korean wines—offering attendees a rich journey into Korea’s vibrant and evolving beverage culture. Traditional Korean rice crackers and other curated snacks complemented the tasting, creating an authentic and engaging pairing experience.
The event gathered over 1,000 distinguished guests, who enthusiastically visited the station throughout the evening. Adding a contemporary highlight, three award-winning Korean American mixologists crafted original Korean-inspired cocktails exclusively for the celebration, introducing guests to modern interpretations of Korean spirits and elevating appreciation for their craftsmanship.
Thoughtfully executed from concept to presentation, the K-Wine & Spirits station provided a memorable, educational, and celebratory touch—allowing attendees to honor the significance of Korea National Armistice Day while discovering the depth and diversity of Korean wine, soju, and makgeolli.
