Chodang Sundubu Tofu

Chodang Sundubu Tofu Village is widely known for its Tofu-making. Under the reign of King Gwanghaegun of Joseon, Heo Yeop, the provincial officer of Samcheok, ordered his people to make Tofu with the clean sprint water that sprouted in front of his house and season the product with the clean sea water.

As the delicious Tofu made through the process became famous, Heo named the Tofu Chodang, his pen name. It is still the representative dish in Gangneung with special soft texture.
