Congratulations to Scott Drewno!


Drewno, chef of ChiKo Restaurant in Washington D.C. won first place at the 2017 Korean Food Chef Contest and will be headed on a trip to Korea! The 2017 K-Food Chef Contest was hosted by The Embassy of Korea on October 1st a The Art Institute of Washington.

This quick-fire competition challenged the chefs to make a dish in 45 minutes using Korean ingredients, which were kept secret until the event. Drewno’s faced accomplished Washington D.C. chefs 1789 restaurant Chef Samuel Kim and Spoken English’s James Woznuiuk. The competition was judged by Marja Vongeritchen of PBS’s Kimchi Chronicles, Takorean’s Mike Lenard and Chiko’s co-founder Danny Lee. Drewno’s dish ultimately beat out his competition for his inclusion of banchan, Korean side dishes.
