K-Food in US joined the Korea National Day 2026 celebration at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC, sharing Korean food, traditional drinks, and creative cocktails with guests.
Soban Catering prepared Korean bites for the evening, while the K-Bar offered a chance to explore Korean sool through tastings of soju, takju, yakju, and fruit wines. A K-Sool booklet introduced the drinks featured at the event, giving guests a guide to the selection.
Three mixologists brought their own interpretations of Korean ingredients to the cocktail menu. Geoffrey Chang of SHIA DC presented Daq-geolli, combining makgeolli with rum, lime juice, and sugar. Denny An of Onggi DC served Gohyang Saenggak, blending Damcoul 40 with corn tea, green plum syrup, lime juice, and simple syrup, topped with green plum foam. Sophia Kim of Alewife in Richmond, Virginia, created the Nurungjji Margarita, featuring soju, tart clementine juice, and nurungji–green tea syrup.
A highlight of the evening was a visit from the Korean Ambassador, whom the team welcomed to the K-Bar. Guests also received gift bags filled with Korean favorites, including yakgwa, rice crackers, crispy seaweed snacks, and rice cake cookies.
Behind the celebration was a dedicated team that packed and transported gift bags, arranged displays, prepared tastings, and welcomed guests. Thank you to Soban Catering, our mixologists, staff, and everyone who joined us for an evening of Korean flavors and hospitality.
