Sweet Potato Latte is a cozy, creamy Korean beverage made with roasted sweet potatoes, milk, and a touch of sweetness. It’s caffeine-free, naturally rich, and often enjoyed in winter, evoking the warm nostalgia of freshly roasted “gun-goguma” (군고구마) on a snowy day.
Ingredients (1 serving)
- 1/2 cup roasted Korean sweet potato (about 100g, peeled)
- 1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based like oat or soy)
- 1–2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup (optional, adjust to taste)
- A pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Roast the sweet potato in the oven or air fryer until soft (or use pre-cooked).
- Scoop out the soft flesh and place it into a blender.
- Add milk and sweetener, then blend until smooth and creamy.
- Pour into a saucepan and heat gently over medium-low until warm (do not boil).
- Serve in a mug and sprinkle cinnamon or crushed roasted sweet potato bits on top if desired.
Tips
- For an iced version, chill the blended mix and serve over ice.
- Use purple Korean sweet potatoes (자색 고구마) for a more colorful latte.
- Can be made vegan by using plant milk and maple syrup.
