The organizers of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics on Thursday said they will open a promotional center in Rio de Janeiro, the site of this year’s Summer Games.

The PyeongChang Organizing Committee for the 2018 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games said it will operate the “PyeongChang 2018 House in Rio” on Copacabana Beach during the Aug. 5-21 Rio Olympics. It will also be open during the Sept. 7-18 Summer Paralympics.

The beach is one of the main tourist attractions in the Brazilian city.

The POCOG said it will remodel a kiosk, 50 meters by 8 meters, to create “an open space where visitors will be able to envision and experience the atmosphere of the next Olympic Winter Games using the latest ICT (information and communications technologies) features.”

Inside, visitors will be able to experience ski jumping through 4-D virtual reality.

In cooperation with its corporate partners and the Korean government organizations, the POCOG will also offer cultural programs and exhibitions.

Korean food tasting and K-pop performances will be held on the stage facing the beach, the POCOG added.

Separately, the POCOG will operate a mobile PyeongChang House that will visit Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires and Santiago to introduce South Korea’s first Winter Games across South America. (Yonhap)
